The Historical Directory of Pubs in the South East of England, including London

Search the Historical Pubs site for the South East of England by street address, surname and known pub names powered by FreeFind
If you have a query then try the search engine first, if you have something to add to the historical Pubs site, please email - and as an added incentive, - if you offer useful information for a Public House or Beer House, then I will usually add lots of extra detail / landlords. All non-copyright pictures are always welcome; BUT, if I do not have relevant pictures on the site, then I do not know where to find them.

I am researching the Drapers Arms looking to find an ancestor who (allegedly) was once the publican. This would be around the period 1880's through 1890's;  I note the name Walter Rogers listed as publican in 1891. I looked up the 1891 census records and found that at 29 Barnsbury Street the only person listed as resident was Rosina Smith aged 25 and apparently married. Her occupation was shown as Public House manageress and not linked to my ancestors.

It could be that Walter Rogers was the publican but not in residence or perhaps the pub changed hands before and after the census date.

I get hundreds of emails every day, fortunately most 'spam mails' are deleted by my mail scan settings. The final emails are delivered to various email addresses, and replying to these are not always successful. If you do not hear from me in a timely fashion, please feel free to email again, I do not mind! This is a pure PUBS history site, I doubt if I know where the PUBS are NOW, but try the site for where they were a hundred years ago, again enjoy!
