One Tun, 125 & 126 Saffron Hill, Charterhouse EC1 8QS

The One Tun has apparently been in existence since 1759, and has an excellent site related to the Pub, including a complete list of landlords from 1759 to date. I will source some of this material, interestingly in 1839 Pigots it is listed as the Sun (this could be a typo?) ***

A listing of historical London public houses, Taverns, Inns, Beer Houses and Hotels in  Charterhouse,  London. The Charterhouse, London listing uses information from census, Trade Directories and History to add licensees, bar staff, Lodgers and Visitors.

My Great Great grandfather John Bennett Booker was licensed Victualler, but I am still trying to find out the duration he was at the Ship – my great uncle still recalls this grandmother (John’s wife) telling him stories about Jack the Ripper! John Bennett Booker is at the Ship, 140 Hanbury Street in 1891, whilst his father is at the Pauls Head, 1 Crispin Street, Spitalfields **

I get hundreds of emails every day, fortunately most 'spam mails' are deleted by my mail scan settings. The final emails are delivered to various email addresses, and replying to these are not always successful. If you do not hear from me in a timely fashion, please feel free to email again, I do not mind! This is a pure PUBS history site, I doubt if I know where the PUBS are NOW, but try the site for where they were a hundred years ago, again enjoy!
