Sarah Ward took over the licence of the "Britannia" after her husband died in 1849 and continued to run it until she died early in 1854. Harry Sproston (barman) took over the licence in July 1854. William Ward (Robert & Sarah's youngest son) became a brewer later in life and owned a brewery at Camps Road, Haverhill, Suffolk, during the 1880's & '90's. ***
