"BOB WHEATLEY, showbusiness impresario, has been staging and hosting cabaret and entertainment events for over 35 years - working with top star names such as Cliff Richard, Morecambe & Wise, Tom Jones, Danny La Rue and Freddie Starr.
Over the years he has been involved with numerous charity events and Royal Galas. Members of the Royal family, including Prince Charles and Princess Margaret, have attended nights staged in their honour, with thousands of pounds being raised for deserving charities and organisations.
Now, Bob’s imaginative flair for introducing live acts plus Karen’s experience as a former professionaL dancer and choreographer have made the Saling Oak one of the leading entertainment venues in the region, focussing on fresh new acts with twice weekly talent variety shows. Many of the acts regularly appearing at the Saling Oak are Bob’s personal friends, including a number from the days when he ran Wheatley Taverns - the entertainments group which ran 28 separate nightclub and cabaret venues throughout the South and East, including the Circus Tavern at Purfleet, Caesars Palace at Luton, The Windmill at Copford, The Barn at Braintree and the Harlow Mill at Harlow.
