Fox, Great Warley

Directories of Great Warley

Known Residents

The following entries are in this format:

Year/Publican or other Resident/Relationship to Head and or Occupation/Age/Where Born/Source.

The "brewhouse" at Great Warley had been bequeathed to Thomas Foker by his father-in-law Daniel Cross in his will (proved 1828) which establishes both the ownership and existence of the place to before that date. ***

In the 1841 Census Susannah is shown as living at "Kits Slough" which is where the brewery / public house was located.

In 1851 the resident (and owner) is actually Mrs Susannah Foker (nee Cross) - the widow of Thomas Foker. The surname is shown in the census as "Foaker".   ***

Thomas' son William came back to take over the pub in 1874 but it did him no good in the end. His wife took their 4 young children and left him in 1884 and William finished up in the Romford Union Workhouse by 1891 where he died 6 years later. ***

I get hundreds of emails every day, fortunately most 'spam mails' are deleted by my mail scan settings. The final emails are delivered to various email addresses, and replying to these are not always successful. If you do not hear from me in a timely fashion, please feel free to email again, I do not mind! This is a pure PUBS history site, I doubt if I know where the PUBS are NOW, but try the site for where they were a hundred years ago, again enjoy!
