The Eagle at Kelvedon Hatch taken in 1909/10. The large gentleman standing to the right of the door is George Palmer my g-grandfather. He took on the pub in that year, having retired as a farmer from Ely where he had farmed 300 acres there until 1900, and later Birdbrook where they farmed a few more years at Bailey Hill.

  In the door in the apron is his youngest son Albert, the females are probably his daughters Elizabeth and Bertha.   He died at Halstead in 1910, so only held the licence for a year.  My grandfather George's son Robert, also farmed at Colemans at Finchingfield pre war, my Dad was born there in 1918.
