"The parish boundary between Buttsbury and Stock used to run through the middle of Stock high street and literally through the middle of the Cock Inn. There is a story that a stranger fell down dead in the pub and it had to be decided who was going to bury him, Stock or Buttsbury. In the end they decided that whose ever area his head was in would bury him!!"
