Advertising on the pub history wiki site

I have moved the pub history site to pub wiki, i.e. pubwiki.co.uk for a number of reasons, including the fact I like the name.

Currently, there are now 58 thousand pages, and probably 10 thousand plus images on the site. Apart from this, the advertising revenues from adsense are still about £1 a day, and I think I can live without this. It helps, but it is also taking the piss! All ads are to now to go.

It’s a bit like the new prime minister being selected by the Tory party, a bit crap! At least with Nigel Farage you know where you stand, ‘they come round here’ attitude.

  1. I’m really interested in your site about Chelsea pubs as I am looking at pubs around the Kings Road in the 1950s when as a child I lived on the Kings road between Manresa Road and Carlysle Square (demolished in 1960). Wrote a huge missive about my very happy childhood there and have given it to my kids and also the Kensington and Cheldsea archive. I can let you have it as well, not particularly well written (140,000 words but I think you will find iot interseting.

My Grandfather (Arthur Baxter) was a publican. He owned the Old Bell in Fleet St until 1901 then the Crown and Grapes in Little Newport St in Soho (now a Chinese catering suppliers) an finally the Royal Oak, Raphael St in a very run down part of Knightsbridge where he died of Cirrhosis of the liver in 1937.

Really interested in your work and wish I could help more with it .

    1. Hello Mike,
Excellent, I have some of the dates on the site. I will see what else I can add to confirm exact dates etc.
      Best
